Horse (Equus caballus) is a domesticated animal coming from the same family as donkeys, Equidae.
Horses were domesticated for a lot of important reasons. They are one of the most economically important animals because of their tough characteristics. Although the use of horses has dramatically decreased in the modern times due to modernization, they are still widely available and used in many parts of the world. Horses were used in war, transportation and agriculture. Some societies also use horses for clothing and food source.
The size of horses varies depending on the breed, however, the size and built of a horse can be influenced by its diet and nutrition. The average height of a horse is usually 150 cm. Any horse standing below 150 cm is often considered a pony, a variety of smaller breeds of horses. Horses are herbivores and will eat grass and other vegetation. Horses consume large amounts of plant materials throughout the day, a 1000 lbs. Horse will eat about 15 to 25 lbs. of food per day and will usually consume about 10-12 gallons of water.
